Geography
Sweetwater Creek State Park is located near the town of Lithia Springs Georgia. Located just off Interstate 20 only minutes from Atlanta make this a great place for a day hike when you are in the area. It has nine miles of hiking trails through a very wooded area. The trails wind along Sweetwater Creek and offer a lot of photo opportunities.
Early spring is a great time to visit the park. Wildflowers are in bloom and the shots along the creek are good. Fall also finds a lot of color in the many hardwoods that are native to this part of Georgia.
The park offers many activities including:
Early Spring Wildflower Hike
New Manchester History Hike
Backcountry Geology Hike
Golden Years Hiking Club
Ruins to Rapids Full Moon Hike
Geology Hike
Sweetwater Creek Intertribal Powwow
Sweetwater Creek Summer Festival
Check the park link above for details and schedules.

Great fall colors are found along the creek.
More fall colors along the hiking trails.
The creek has plenty of photo opportunities including large rocks you can walk out into the creek for really good angles.
Close to the end of the trails find the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company. It is an old textile mill that burned during the Civil War. Unfortunately I did not get a good shot. If someone has one, please add it.
