So you are ready to upload some pictures. Here are some important pointers to help your upload experience go well.

There are two distinct types of albums.  There are the base FotoTrekn Public Albums and there are albums you create which can be either public or private that we call User Albums. 

These base FotoTrekn Public Albums are the ones we have cataloged by Continent>Country>State/Territory.  Here is an example.  These albums are where we want you to upload your great location specific images to share with all the users.  We also link from these as we create fototreks.  These albums are always public, but the picture uploader retains ownership and copyright over the uploaded images.  As a general rule, we want to reserve these for great location shots.  So while a New York City skyline or a shot of Half Dome in Yosimite would be great for these albums, a wedding picture or a shot of your favorite pet would not, those go in your User Albums.

The User Albums are all created by the users. They can be public or private. Users can password protect private albums which creates a lot of versitility when it comes to sharing private work. Also note that your friends and family can access your user albums without registering with the site.

So before you upload, decide which of the album types would be most appropriate.
